UPDATE:

tumblrcoven:

Thanks for all your support and commentary, and those opposed — still, thanks for sharing your opinions.

But, due to the comment made by some anon earlier saying that I should have my own tongue cut out, I’m turning off the ANON feature until a time I deem appropriate. You know, I had reservations about turning on the anon feature, but I did it anyway so that no one would feel uncomfortable exposing their identity just to ask us questions. I’m sorry this person had to go and spoil it all for you. This person took advantage of the opportunity and royally pissed me off. I’ve told you all that I’m called loupgarou for a reason and it is my job and my privilege to protect this forum and maintain the safety of the people within it. Today I felt it’s safety was compromised and now I’m doing what I feel is necessary.

If you all havent figured it out already, this current debate (if you can even call it that) is OVER. We will not be accepting anymore comments on the subject.
If you have any further comments or criticisms on the matter, you can speak to me directly, not Tumblr Coven.

I just caught up on that whole debate and I agree with you Katy on looking into mundane solutions for these kind of situations. Not only is it practical but its the best and first most solution prior to doing any magick.

Now being Filipino myself and knowing my culture and the type of Witchcraft in the Philippines I do know that these type of situations sometimes happens in the Philippines sadly. If that person was in the rural areas its sometimes a bit difficult to get the law on their side because it is very rural however I don’t know where that person lives, and even then they can get themselves, his father, and any ither family away from his mother and report it to authorities in a nearby city. If they lived outside the country most defintely they can get the cops.

Filipinos are very superstitious in nature and they are especially afraid of Witchcraft or kulam, which is something even prior to Western influence. Witchcraft in the Philippines is different from the West and shouldn’t be approached in a Western point of view. Witchcraft in the Philippines can be used for good or bad depending on the person and how they use it. There are those who do cast curses on people by using body parts, dead animals, chicken blood, etc. while others do healing work and protection through herbs and yes even sacrificing animals mostly chickens to appease the spirits. It’s a craft that can be used for good or bad but. just like you mentioned it depends on how one uses it. It’s the same thing as the European concepts, except without using sacrifice and the like.

Now for that anon’s friend I don’t know what is up with his mother but even as someone practicing Witchcraft in the Philippines one would never try cutting out their own child’s tongue. Maybe a random dead corpse’s tongue thats been in a grave but in no way would they do something like this.

As for him looking into magick and Wicca he should look into our own cultures animistic beliefs. They should look into the Babaylan or shamanic tradition, learn about our own deities, and into the Wicca practiced in the Philippines because there are plenty of Filipino’s back home who practice Wicca and Witchcraft the right way, not what his crazy mother is thinking.

However first things first to the anon’s friend do whatever you can to get yourself and your family out and away from your mother. It doesn’t matter if you are turning 18 soon the shorter you wait the better. No one deserves that type of abuse and if your own father isn’t doing anything about then you do something about it. No amount of magick can deal with this situation.
