Anubis

Anubis is a very ancient god, the God of the Dead.
He is also the Guardian of Sacred Esoteric Mysteries.
He has two forms, that of a Jackal and that
of a man with a Jackal’s head.
Anubis is a Protector god.
He calls himself a “Fierce Protector.”
Anubis can help you free yourself from the negativity
that can invade our lives.
He is a very powerful god and does not like to be called idly.
Be very careful to show him the proper respect and reverence if you should call him.
Simple offerings are a good idea. Coins, gemstones, flowers, etc.
Make sure you are grounded to Earth’s energy before you attempt to call him and
it is wise to have your own guides and guardians around you.
A psychic friend of mine needed three of her guides to help her handle Anubis’ powerful energy. –Source
The following is by Ron Wolfe:
The worship of Anubis is a very ancient practice. The Anubis cult is believed to have possibly predated the Osirian cult in Ancient Egypt. The image of the Jackal guardian of the Underworld is also an ancient archetype from many cultures. Anubis carried out many tasks in his role as a deity. He was a psychopomp, one who ushered the souls of the dying from this world into the next. He guided these souls, protected them, prepared them for the trials to come, and assisted Maat in judging them for truth.
He was also considered a great messenger, one who carried messages from the Underworld to the Gods and Goddesses of the Heavens, as well as from these deities to mankind itself. He was a diplomat with a dark and sardonic nature, but showing of compassion. He served a vital role to both the peoples and the scheme of the Gods. He was God of embalming, mummification, guardian and guide to the spirits of the deceased, patron of orphans and lost souls, god of magic, and the Egyptian personification of time. Anubis could see into the myriad possible futures and pasts. Anubis having been set out by his mother Nephthys after it became evident that he was the son of Osiris rather than Set, her husband, is the patron of orphans and lost souls. He is most closely tied with a three Goddesses: his aunt, Isis; his mother, Nephthys; and Maat, the Weigher of Souls. I find it interesting that the common view of the Goddess focuses on her triad aspect, which appears to be present in these three seperate [sic] Goddesses.
Anubis as the Opener of the Way, presided over the gateway to the realm of the dead. To the ancient Egyptians this was known as Dat, Duat, or Tuat. These terms have a unique similarity to the Da-ath of the Qabalah and the twat (yes, the slang for the vagina, which has unfortunately been degraded by society) from which we all pass into being. There seems to be a deeper lesson implied here. Perhaps, we pass from the realm of the dead into life through the tuat with the guidance of The Opener of the Way only to return to his arms and pass once again back through that sacred gateway. This wordplay seems to give credence to the theory of reincarnation. The act of sex itself, the male giving forth the essence of life into the tuat or twat (the realm of the dead) would therefore be sacred to the Lord Anubis.
Sacred Symbols
The Jackal is the most obvious symbol of Anubis. The Jackal was often found near the sacred burial sites and this may well be how the connection was originally made. Perhaps this is also due to the Loyalty of most canines to their human partners, even after the persons demise. We can look into several of the Underworld myths of other cultures and often find a jackal, dog, or wolf as one of the main guardians to the Underworld, such as Cerberus and Fenris. In India, Shiva’s death aspect also appears as a jackal. Dogs and their brethren are often associated with one or another face of the Goddess, usually in her Receiver of the Dead or Huntress aspects.
The Number Nine is perhaps the single digit number most closely tied to Anubis. Anubis could see into the myriad possible futures and pasts. In this aspect he is much like Janus the two-faced God. In the aspect of time, the number 9 is sacred to Anubis, and represents the infinite self-perpetuation of time and therefore Anubis, himself. This is demonstrated by multiplying the number 9 by any other number. When you add the digits of the product you will find the 9 in its infinite mystery.
Green Feldspar amulets of Anubis have been found on mummified remains. I’m currently looking for further information on this and the qualities of Feldspar.
Scrying/Communion with Anubis
From the London-Leiden Greek papyri for communicating with the gods:
In a darkened room a boy gazes into a bowl filled with oil and the magician recites to following spell:
Grow, O light, come forth O light.
Rise O light, ascend O light.
Thou who art without, come in.
If, when the boy opens his eyes, he does not see the light, the magician tells him to close his eyes again then recites this:
O darkness, remove thyself from before him.
O light, bring the light to me.
Pshai that is in the abyss, bring the light to me.
O Osiris who is in the Neshem-boat, bring in the light to me.
These four winds that are without, bring in the light to me.
O thou whose hand is the moment that belongeth to these hours, bring in the light to me.
Anubis the good oxherd, bring in the light to me…
O great god whose name is great, appear to this child without alarming or deceiving, truthfully.
(Say this spell seven times)
If, after the second spell, the boy does see light and Anubis appears, there is another spell to greet him:
Hail Anubis, come to me.
The High and Mighty, the Chief over the mysteries of those in the Underworld, the Pharaoh of those in Amenti.
the Chief Physician, the fair son of Osiris, he whose face is strong among the gods, thou manifest thyself in the Underworld before the hand of Osiris…
Come to earth, show thyself to me here today…
Come to the mouths of my vessel today and do thou tell me answer in truth to everything that I shall inquire about without falsehood therein…
As the seance continues, the magician asks the boy if the gods have come in yet and he provides for them a table set with bread and beer. From among the gods present the boy asks one to stand and answer the magician’s questions.
Protective Inscriptions/Incantations
The magical spell associated with a niche in the east wall of a tomb holding a statue of Anubis reclining upon his shrine or on a hill is:
“Thou watchful one, watchful also is he-who-is-upon-his-mountain. Thy moment is repelled. I have repelled thy moment of rage. I am thyprotector [sic].”
The spell placed on the statue of Anubis guarding the storeroom (TheTreasury of the Innermost) in the tomb of Tutankhamen reads:
“It is I who hinder the sand from choking the secret chamber, and who repel he who would repel him with the desert-flame. I have set aflame the desert, I have caused the path to be mistaken. I am for the protection of the Osiris.”

No Star for Anubis
by P. Sufenas Virius Lupus
He has seen the souls of stars come and go,
enriching the very substance of the universe.
The bright band of the Milky Way his path
where photons uncountable are herded, channeled
in the Celestial Nile, into Osiris’ company —
the white strip trailed by him, his linen
wrapping the embalmed corpse of the cosmos
in preparation for its transfiguration.
The luminosity of forgotten gods and heroes
gathered by him into the white-hot point
where there is no star, but instead a hole
through the fabric of existence’s intricate weave
letting the millionth part of a billionth
of the clarified radiance of that world through,
traveling light years numbering to times
when there was no water in the earthly Nile.
But it is not his star, rather that of Sothis.
The Greeks say it is Orion’s hound Sirius;
the Romans the bitch Maira of Erigone,
the true and loyal servants of Bacchus.
And though it is her power and her name upon it,
the greatest part of its brilliance lies
in the blur of motion caused by Anubis
as he gathers the souls of men, gods and grass.
